An accomplished entrepreneur, publicist, pageant queen, military veteran, and humanitarian, Raquel exemplifies excellence in every facet of her life.
Professional Journey
Raquel began her career as a decorated U.S. Army veteran, serving for nine years as both an enlisted photojournalist and an Ordnance Officer. After transitioning to civilian life in 2002, she embarked on a modeling career with Elite Model Management and Ford Model NYC, appearing in over 125 campaigns for seven years. She is currently with Select Model Atlanta.
As the founder and CEO of An Officer and Gentlewoman, LLC (AOAGWLLC), a renowned global media and entertainment company, Raquel has over 30 years of experience in the military and private media sectors. Her visionary leadership has earned AOAGWLLC over 75 awards and a sterling reputation for talent management, brand management, public relations, and production services. Notably, her company's client portfolio has a staggering valuation of $1.9 billion.
A true innovator, Raquel launched the Raquel Riley Thomas Beauty Line (RRTBeauty) in 2020, offering performance-based makeup designed for long-lasting wear. She is also a respected beauty and fashion expert, appearing on major networks like FOX, ABC, and NBC. Her influence extends across over 125 media outlets, including USA News, Black Enterprise, Modern Luxury, Ebony, and Military Times.
Education and Recognition
Raquel is a Hampton University graduate, earning her B.A. in Psychology and completing ROTC as a Distinguished Military Graduate. She also holds a certification in Mastery of Negotiations from Harvard Business School. Among her accolades are induction into the Library of Congress for her military service and numerous civilian honors, such as the *Most Influential Women in Atlanta 2023* by *The Atlantan*.
Community and Advocacy
A passionate humanitarian, Raquel serves on the advisory board of Operation Renewed Hope Foundation and supports organizations like the American Federation of Suicide Prevention due to her mother’s suicide. She is a proud Diamond Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and an advocate for Veterans through groups like Veterans in Media. She is also an advocate for girls learning self-empowerment, self-discipline and leadership through fitness and martial arts. She is currently a brown belt in taekwondo.
Personal Life
Raquel, a native of Maryland, USA is married to Ron Thomas, Esq., a West Point graduate since Feb 14, 2006. They have four daughters in a blended family along with a British Shorthair cat and an English Creme Golden Retriever.
